Just like last year

If it happens two years in a row - does it automatically become tradition? This year my family begged me to come along, citing their need for a photographer at the bottom of the slope.

Jillian's first attempt at skiing - ever. She did great.

It was too just too cold! But I have to admit, it made for some great shots...

Thanks to a passer-by for this shot:

Sneak Preview...

Today I had 2 photo shoots with this lovely couple: one with just me, taking advantage of early morning lighting in Downtown Phoenix, and the second was in the late afternoon with my mother joining us for a slightly more formal look.
This is a preview of my urban-style photo shoot in the morning.

They both enjoy watching baseball games - so it was only fitting to have the ballpark as part of the background. I love it.

I absolutely loved spending time photographing these two. *sigh*

Classic black and white. Just you wait until I've put in my time with photoshop and the lovely photos I have of these two! Watch for another post at a later date for that!!

Graduation!

First things first: photo credit goes to Mom!

Yay!!! Looks like 4 years of study finally paid off! I graduated from the college of nursing which means of course more time for photography. Still waiting for it all to 'sink-in' though!

C.R.E.A.T.E. Photography

Welcome to our blog! I finally convinced my mom to let me help her post some of her wonderful photography work so that others can enjoy it almost as much as I do!

By way of introduction:
My mom (Kimber) has an impressive background in photography from a young age. She used to work for a photo lab in California and from that time long ago has taken photographs at approximately 50 weddings, although only a few are recent as she chose to take a break from photography to focus on her family. Also, her camera although well-loved, was quickly falling by the wayside in terms of technology!

I have grown up benefiting from her talents and I do strive to learn things from her, because she has that natural 'eye' for good photographs. She is my best critic.

She absolutely loves her current camera - a fabulous digital SLR Rebel XTI by Canon along with an amazing lens that she simply glows over.

I did pick up her passion for photography and have been taking photos since middle school. I spend a lot of time doing self-portraiture with my trusty tripod and my Canon Rebel.

I cannot remember when, but I fell in love with photoshop. I love how you can give a photo an entirely different feel by playing with lighting and colors. I also do a lot of re-touching, mostly facial, but there are times when something in the background just doesn't fit! When my mom critiques something in my photo - I usually respond, "I can fix that!"

We have decided to call our blog: C.R.E.A.T.E. photography, meaning: Capturing Really Elegant And Timeless Exposures, because we do love creating and capturing meaningful photos and sharing them with you!

We are located in the east valley, specifically Mesa, Arizona. We have also taken pictures around the valley in various places including Phoenix, Arizona and Scottsdale, Arizona as well as various places out of state. (Especially California!)

If you'd like to spend some time with us as we capture elegant photographs of you, please send us an e-mail at CREATEphotography@gmail.com.

We promise elegant and beautiful photographs, and we always provide a CD of our images, because we believe that you should always get what you pay for!

Please comment on your favorite photograph so we know you stopped by!
Sincerely, Jenesse Millard
(assistant photographer and future R.N.!)

Scottsdale Civic Center - Starring Cristina

Hello! This is Jenesse authoring this time. I know I have to be specific as there are two photographers sharing this blog!

I'm fairly new to the world of photography. Although, hopefully my former photo editor on the yearbook staff would say I did a pretty good job for our high school annual. But high school days have come and gone - I haven't worked on a high school yearbook in over 3 years! I have found interests in people photography however - and here are some of the results from a fairly spontaneous photo shoot with a very willing friend!

I still work with film, but I always have them create jpeg images from my film negatives - specifically so that I can work with my images in Photoshop!

Can you tell I love my soft-focus filter? And this is our favorite shot of the day...

A shout-out to my beautiful model! THANKS!

Have camera will travel

I had the opportunity to travel to New York with my son before he leaves for his mission in a few months.

I usually don't enjoy winter much - but these particular shots were my favorite.

Enlarged, you can see the individual snow crystals behind the leaf - fantastic detail!

The Peter Witmer farm house -love the lighting.

An inside shot. This is such a small house for a family.

Happy New Year!!!

Mom stayed home while Dad, Jeff, Jordan, John and I went skiing at Snowbird... brr!

The 'guys' in my family. I was a little out-numbered.

Oops. That's okay - I needed to cool off anyways!
